This annual event benefits the Humane Society of Ventura County and their new program, Pantry 4 Paws. Pantry 4 Paws is an exciting pilot program with pantries located throughout the county providing free pet food to those in need.
Stop by the Homes for Pets Fundraiser & Food Drive to meet adoptable pets, bid on silent auction items, learn about disaster preparedness and puppy training from local experts, have your dog bathed while making crafts with your kids, and, if you are able, dropping off dry dog food or cat food for Pantry 4 Paws. There will also be food, face painting and local vendors! Visit the Homes for Pets Project to learn more!

Chloe is a one-year-and-one-month-old, spayed, tan and white Chihuahua. Chloe came to the Humane Society earlier this year as an owner surrender because her owner could no longer keep her. Chloe is a very beautiful little dog with a nice soft coat. She loves people, but she would prefer to be adopted by a family with adults only. She has lived with cats, and she's enjoying meeting some new dogs and making friends. She has been on some pack walks and done great on the leash. Chloe would love to be adopted soon, but she's being very patient and enjoying her days in the play yard. She is very playful and she loves toys and treats. She's a special little dog and she will make a terrific pet for the right family.
Included with every dog adoption will be the first DHLPP shot of the series, a rabies vaccine, a medical exam good for up to three days from participating veterinarians, implanting an identification microchip (registration extra), spay or neuter surgery, if necessary, as well as a collar, ID tag, and a leash. For dog adoptions, a yard check will be performed prior to adoption. In addition to adequate fencing and shelter, those wishing to adopt a pet must provide either proof of ownership of the residence or a rental agreement for that address indicating that pets are allowed. If you are interested in learning more about adoptions, please contact the Humane Society of Ventura County at (805)646-6505. Mendella is a four-year-old, neutered, gray Havanese Terrier mix. Mendella was surrendered to our Humane Officers earlier this year when it was determined that he needed a new home. Mendella has a sweet and calm disposition, and he has the softest coat! He’s a very good boy, who has learned to trust people again. He loves to hang out in the play yard with his buddies during the day and loves squeaky toys. He has recently gone on some of the pack walks with other dogs, and he’s amazing on the leash! His personality is coming out now, and he’s blossoming. Mendella will need to be adopted by a family who can take the time to continue socializing him and give him lots of love. He will also need to have regular sessions with a groomer, to keep his coat nice and fluffy. Stop by and meet Mendella if you are looking for a lovely little companion dog.

Athena came to the Humane Society recently from another rescue organization, when she was surrendered by her owner through no fault of her own. Athena is an energetic, young, happy dog. She loves people and she gets along with other dogs. She is still a puppy, so she will need training and lots of exercise at her new home. She was temporarily homed with four other dogs so she may do well with other dogs. Come by and meet this exotic pup Athena if you are looking for a dog you can take along on adventures!

She and her pups were surrendered by their owner to our Humane officers to better care for their needs. Mercedes is a sweet little dog and she has been a great mother to her puppies. She’s protected and nurtured them, and now it’s time for her to start the next chapter of her life. Mercedes loves to cuddle up in your lap and can be very playful. She doesn’t mind other dogs at all and seems to like men and women. If you are looking for a little sweetheart, come by and meet Mercedes.

She came to the Humane Society last month as an owner surrender, because her owner could no longer keep her.
Chloe is a very charming little dog, who loves hanging out with people. She has lived with cats and she loves to play with other dogs. She’s been mostly an indoor dog, and she’s working towards being housebroken. When she’s adopted and gets a regular routine, she will figure it out no doubt! Chloe is very playful and she loves toys and treats. She will be a very special dog for the family who adopts her. She’s ready for her next home, so come by and meet sweet Chloe at the Humane Society of Ventura County. We are located at 402 Bryant St in Ojai and you can reach us by phone at (805)646-6505 if you would like to learn more about adopting! Mia is a seven-year-old spayed German Shepherd who is looking for a home to give her lots of love.
Mia's foster family said she is a high energy dog that will need an active family. She appears to be housebroken and enjoys being a part of the family. She sleeps all night on her bed next to her new owner and she is very loving. Although she has no formal training that we are aware of she is interested in learning. She loves to play with her toys and will run with them, throwing them up in the air and catching them. She is also good at catching her treats! She would do best in a home with no small animals or children. She needs a large yard and must be a part of the family as she loves to spend time in the house with her new owners. If you are interested in learning more about Mia or adopting from the Humane Society of Ventura County, please call (805)646-6505 or visit us at 402 Bryant St in Ojai. Beckett is a six-year-old, neutered, tan Lhasa Apso (approximately 23 lbs). He came to the Humane Society of Ventura County recently from another rescue organization. Beckett is a very sweet dog who just wants to be by your side and will make a wonderful family dog. Beckett enjoys going for walks and playing in the play yards. Beckett has met other dogs and doesn't seem to mind them; he also doesn't seem to mind cats. He will need exercise, training, and lots of love. He will also need a family who will take him for regular grooming sessions, as his coat grows long and fluffy. If you want to meet this little fluffy boy, come down to the shelter and ask for Beckett.

He came to the Humane Society recently through no fault of his own. Blaze came to the shelter with his sister Sugar and the two enjoy each other’s company. You can often find them curled up together in one of our dog play yards, enjoying the sunshine. Blaze has a go-get-um attitude and enjoys his walks. This little guy can sure zoom around and is always excited to see you. Blaze does have a slight limp due to a past leg injury, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. Blaze doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, but we don’t know how he is with children or cats.
