This 1940s Mid-Century Modern home sits on approximately 2.94 oak- and pine-studded acres in Ojai’s East End. Inspired by a design by Frank Lloyd Wright, this home has had just two owners, each adding their unique touches, and now it is your turn to add yours.
The first driveway leads to a large guest parking area with a river rock walkway leading to the courtyard with a low, rock wall and the guest entrance. The second driveway leads to a three-car carport with additional parking just outside the family entrance. River rock walls define this area as well, and a rock walkway leads to a workshop and storage area adjacent to the carport.
From the guest entrance, step into the river rock foyer where you will find a family room with over-sized windows and a stone bar with an oak top. Be sure to pause here to take in the gorgeous mountain views before heading past the bar to find a guest bathroom with a tile shower, large vanity, and separate water closet. A rock hallway leads around the corner to a spacious bedroom with river rock and wood walls, a large closet, a rock ledge for sitting or displaying artwork, lots of windows to bathe the space in natural light, and a door leading to the courtyard. While the current master bedroom is located upstairs, if you are looking for a first-floor master, this large bedroom has lots of potential for that.

On the other side of the foyer between the guest and family entrances, step down into the great room where you will find rock walls, Terrazzo flooring with radiant heat, a seating area near the fireplace insert, and the casual and formal dining rooms.
The formal dining room has two ceiling fans, large windows for natural light, and French doors leading to the main outdoor living area. Separated from the formal dining space by a river rock wall, the casual dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and has a sliding door to the patio.
The kitchen offers lots of cabinets for storage and plenty of tiled counter space for meal prep. One of the original features showing a bit of the home’s history is found here: a stone oven with firewood storage below, which perhaps could be transformed into a pizza or bread oven or simply used as additional pantry space and a conversation piece.
Just off the kitchen, there is a Dutch door leading to the family parking area, and just beyond this door is the laundry room with a sink, leased water softener, and enough space to also act as a mud room.

Ascend the curved, wood and metal staircase to the second floor where the hallway between the two upstairs bedrooms is lined with built-in storage cabinets. The guest bedroom at the end of the hall features a river rock fireplace, sliding door to a balcony, beautiful views of the property and mountains, and built-in storage shelves. If you are planning on working from home, this room would make a great office.
At the opposite end of the hallway, the master suite is home to a large, walk-in closet, a spacious bedroom with large windows for natural light and mountain views, and an en suite bathroom with a built-in linen cabinet, lavatory alcove, tiled surround for the bathtub and shower, and an L-shaped vanity with two sinks and ample storage.

The gorgeous stonework found throughout this unique home continues in the outdoor living areas. First, there is the courtyard at the guest entrance, where you will find low-maintenance, low-water landscaping and low, river rock walls. Stone paths lead from the guest parking area to the courtyard or around the house to the main outdoor living area, which is off of the casual and formal dining rooms. This spacious, river rock patio wraps around the house with multiple seating areas and a tiled fountain with a river rock sitting wall.
All of this is nestled among the mature oaks and pines that dot this wooded property, enhancing the privacy and serene setting. Behind the house, there is a large open area with lots of usable land to add a swimming pool, horse facilities, fruit trees, vegetable garden, or workshop.
